Philip Breeden est professeur au Collège Américain de la Méditerranée (ACM) à Aix en Provence depuis 2015. De 2018 à 2022, il a été le premier vice-président de l'administration de l'ACM et a été doyen par intérim de la Donna Dillon Manning School of Global Affairs de 2023 à 2024.
Diplomate américain avec une longue expérience de la diplomatie culturelle et éducative, Philip Breeden a commencé sa carrière en 1986. Il a occupé le poste d’Attaché Culturel et d’Attaché de Presse à Ankara, Antananarivo, Istanbul, Washington, Londres et Tunis, avant de prendre ses fonctions de Consul Général à Marseille en 2005, où il a découvert sa passion pour Varian Fry. Après avoir été attaché de presse près l’ambassade des Etats-Unis à Londres et Ministre Conseiller aux Affaires culturelles et à la Communication près l’ambassade des Etats-Unis à Paris, il a quitté la diplomatie pour l’éducation internationale.
Philip Breeden a été récompensé à plusieurs reprises. Il a notamment reçu le “Superior Honor Award” pour ses efforts en matière de Diplomatie Culturelle lorsqu’il était en poste en Tunisie, et les Palmes Académiques pour ses conférences dans les lycées français. Il est diplômé de l’Université de Stanford en Relations Internationales et de l’Université Fletcher en Droit et Diplomatie.

At an Extraordinary General Assembly on October 17, 2025, Vice-President Philip Breeden was unanimously elected President.
Philip Breeden has been a professor at the American College of the Mediterranean (ACM) in Aix-en-Provence since 2015. From 2018 to 2022 he was the inaugural Vice President of Administration of ACM and served as the acting Dean of the Donna Dillon Manning School of Global Affairs from 2023 to 2024.
Previously, as a senior American diplomat, he spent almost three decades in the United States Foreign Service creating and directing communication, cultural and educational exchange programs in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He also served as the U.S. Consul General in Marseille, where he discovered his passion for Varian Fry. After a final posting at the U.S. Mission in Paris as the Minister Counselor for Press and Cultural Affairs, he left diplomacy for international education in 2014. As a diplomat Mr. Breeden received numerous awards including a Superior Honor Award for his public diplomacy efforts in Tunisia, the Palmes Académiques for his work with high schools in France, and the Secretary of State’s Career Achievement Award. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and a M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
